Two In A Row - Two To Go!
Romine wins Top Fuel at AHDRA St. Louis
The key word around the Romine Racing pits these days is 'FOCUS'. After the win in Bristol, Mike reassured his team that with total focus and committment, they could take the 2005 championship. 'Mike is a very intense person who looks at the big picture and lets the details take care of themselves,' Patty Romine shared. 'Joe and I are both number crunchers, so we are always reporting to Mike what the points are. We even keep track round-to-round from the very first race - it's just the way we are. After Bristol, Mike told us to stop worrying about anybody else. He said that if we all just do our jobs and give it our total focus, we could win the championship. It really grounded us and reined us in - made us look at it in a different light.'

Mike came a little closer to the championship goal with his second-in-a-row win at St. Louis. Mike stated, 'After Bristol, we decided to skip Woodburn because the date was too close to St. Louis. All that travelling will wear you out and we wanted to be ready for St. Louis, which we know is a good track.' The strategy worked, as Romine was able to score his third win of the season defeating Doug Vancil in the final round.

In addition to the win, another highlight of the weekend was the return to racing of Mike's brother, Jack, who is the 2004 Pro Fuel National Champion. Sidelined for most of the 2005 season because of back problems and the sale of his 2004 championship bike, Jack appeared in St. Louis with a newly forming team (Edge Motorsports) and recently completed bike - that ran 6.60's on its first weekend of competition. With Crew Chief, Jim Smith, and tuning assistance from Mike, Jack is looking forward to attending the balance of the 2005 AHDRA races and a full season of competition in 2006.

With two races to go in 2005, the Top Fuel championship race is very tight and will probably come down to the last round of the last race in Las Vegas. For now, team Romine is looking towards Rockingham - with TOTAL FOCUS.

Mike Romine is sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Salt Lake City, Romine Cams, Chromatic, Performance Machine, Fram, Autolite, Ross Pistons, Mickey Thompson Tires, and Competition Distributing.
