Just short of a year ago, Mike Romine ran the quickest round one elimination time at Cordova – 6.59. Backing up his qualifying time of 6.55, Romine had mixed emotions – elated and major league bummed. He’d lost the race in the first round, but found the ‘Fifty City’ performance Screamin’ Eagle Nitro Harley now required. “Sixties just won’t cut it anymore. And consistency wins.” Romine met both criteria, but missed on the third. “You’ve gotta leave the starting line first.”

Driving into the Quad Cities with an entirely new outlook, Mike Romine’s smiling again. Same bike. Added Team member. New Combination that’s back into the fifties. AND the forties. Two weeks ago in Shreveport at what could have been the Muddy Nationals, Romine clocked a 6.46 – his career first forty in round one elims. Though he ended the day with a 6.61 in the final round, Romine knows how get back to the magical land – and to hover in “fifty City” should the need arise.
